Lego StopMotion Channel update

Hi readers!

I’m sorry that I have to do an update so soon on my coming-soon YouTube channel, but I realised I was a bit vague in the last post, so in this post I run over what the channel will be about.

So, firstly, the channel name will be Galaxy Brick Films and the content on the channel will be Lego Star Wars stop motion. The content will be comprised of small Star Wars related stories using Lego mini figures and the animation technique called StopMotion. I hope to post at least two of these videos a month.

That’s about it. Again, I’m sorry that I had to make this update only an hour after the initial channel announcement, but I do realise the importance of making myself clear as to the channel content.

Hope you enjoyed reading

Lego StopMotion channel coming soon!

Hi readers!

I have an announcement to make and that is, that my Lego Star Wars StopMotion channel is coming soon on YouTube!

This was an original Idea for the Grade 8 Science YouTube section project, but I have always wanted to make a channel about StopMotion.

So far, I have set up most of the channel page, but I am still lacking a channel intro video and some content. This means that (hopefully) in a few weeks time I’ll be able to upload some videos and then the channel.

I will make a post when I have successfully launched the channel and I will provide a link so you can check it out.

Me and my sister Jael are collaborating on this project, her blog can be found here: https://ron969127444.wordpress.com

I’m really looking forward to this and I hope some of you are too!

Blog Post Update!

Hello everyone!

Firstly, I know that I have not posted anything for a long time and I apologise for this. So I aspire to change that and start posting again!

These are some coming soon essays and projects you can look forward to,

Activities (Edited two page essay)

This essay is on hobbies and activities that I enjoy doing. The essay has two hobbies and two activities that I like doing. In essence, all four are activities, yet only the first two might be classified as hobbies.

LEGO Stop motion

This is a hobby that I do. Lego stop motion is basically a lego film, using the stop motion method. This method is where you move your lego figure a tiny bit, than you make a picture. You repeat the process until you finish taking frames. Then you string all the frames together to make a real film. This type of filming takes forever, yet I feel the results are rewarding. I have always wanted to make some stop motion, yet it is only in the past few months that I have got into doing it again. I hope to finish making a current movie project, so keep your eyes peeled for when I post It!

Making a Popsicle stick house.

Another sort of hobby that we (me and my siblings) are presently doing, is constructing a popsicle stick house with glue and popsicle sticks. This is the first time we have really given this hobby a go and the house is turning out well. So far we have almost finished the box-like house structure leaving only the roof structure to be done, after which the house should be basically finished, unless we want to paint the outside when the house is done.

The building of this house is fairly simple and it is mainly the cutting of the different-sized pieces, that makes the building take a little longer. After we are finished with this house, I think that I should try to make a planned version, where I could draw the house before building it, as I would like to become an architect when I am older. Constructing and building small model houses is very satisfying in its own way, as is creating anything really.

One of the first activities I should put down is reading. I really enjoy reading books, especially exciting and action-packed books. Right now I am on the Redwallseries by Brian Jaques, which honestly, is just some of the best stuff ever written, from my point of view. So, if you have not checked out this series, I seriously recommend you do. I am also a fan of G.A Henty and Jack London. The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings were also some amazing books. I also enjoyed the Harry potter books, though probably not as much as those mentioned above. The thing with Harry Potter, is that different people have different tastes, so though it was an extremely exciting seven books, I do not think I enjoyed it as much as I am enjoying Redwall now. Something that really strikes me, with reading in general, is that you learn through reading! I mean, is it not just great to be able to learn through doing something that you really like doing? This is a big reason for why I like the English Ron Paul curriculum courses, as Bradley Fish gives us so many great books to read and he counts that as school!

I also like to play with lego. Lego is a great way for me to enjoy and create at the same time, which is great. My siblings also like to play with lego, so lego is also a good way to spend time with them. Me and my brother specifically like to play with Star Wars lego, which just tells me how much I am a fan of Star Wars.

YouTube week 5. Building and fostering the community around you

This essay is on fostering the YouTube community around me and how I answer that question. So I recently set up my YouTube channel, and basically my content is Lego Star Wars stop motion. A big part of setting up a channel, is to build up a community around you, made up of fans and subs. To better understand how to do this, I answer the questions below.

WARNING! This is a personalised essay, so the information is from my perspective.

Why do you want to do what you do on YouTube?

What are your motivations for doing this?

How can you integrate your belief or motivations into your content?

How can you facilitate interaction around your belief and content?

To answer the first question, I think that my strongest belief, my deepest motivation, aside from money, subscribers and fans, is to create good quality stop motion. The reason for this, is that there are only a handful of good quality stop motions on YouTube. To boil it down a little, I really want to bring a new perspective to stop motion. Now, I do not want to brag about making excellent stop motion, but on behalf of the question, that is what I’d like to do. This melts into the second question, which would have the same answer.

To answer the third question, I think that it will be harder to integrate my beliefs into a Star Wars theme. But that does not mean I can’t, it just won’t be as noticeable in my vids. This means that I will probably integrate it in small bits and pieces into my content. The fourth question can be answered similarly to the third, yet I would also try to integrate it into the rest of my channel, not just in my videos.

Lesson 1. Summer Holidays 2019

This essay is on a number of things that I have done in the 2019 summer break. I say a number of things, because I do not think that there was an event that really stood out as dominant. One thing that me and my family did, was go to the Christian United 2019 New Wine camp in Peterborough, England. The camp was great, as you could take your tent and camp on the New Wine grounds and then take part in many activities. The only drawback was the fact that the camp was canceled two days before it officially finished, due to weather warnings.

Another thing that I think was (and still is) a good experience, was having a go at LEGO stop motion filming, which we have not quite finished yet. For those who do not know what stop motion is, I’ll try to do my best to explain. The way we do stop motion is we use LEGO figures, although you can use anything really. So, you place your LEGO figure on a base plate (maybe googling: Lego man, and Lego baseplate might help if you don’t know what those are) and between shots make your figure walk. This is done by moving your figure then taking two frames with your camera, moving your figure again and taking two more shots…and so on. When you have reached your objective in the film (i.e the Lego man walking to a bus stop and getting on a bus) you compile your shots into film. Now, for this process it might be helpful to get a Stop motion app, which automatically puts your shots into a film. If you do not have an app, it is best to hand the situation over to an adult to put the film together on a computer, unless you know how to make the film on a computer yourself.

Another project me and my siblings were, and again still are doing, is making a model house out of Popsicle and cotton candy sticks. This is something that goes further back, before the summer hols and is something that we have not quite finished.

These are some things that I did or took part in during the 2019 summer holidays! Now it’s back to school.
